We are currently working to a 6 week turnaround time for the processing of registrations and issuing of SWQR cards. This is due to the high volume of applications received by SWQR following the legislative deadline in April 2011 for the registration of Unit 2 and 10 qualifications. Department for Transport and HAUC UK are aware of the backlog. We estimate that processing times will be back to normal within 5 weeks.
Should you have any enquiries about the current status of an application for registration please contact SWQR on swqr@sqa.org.uk.
To ensure fairness please note that no application will be fast-tracked upon request, regardless of circumstances.
Please note we are no longer accepting re-registrations from candidates working in England. Due to legalisation changes all candidates in England shall have to be re-assessed.
If you have submitted an application please be aware that due to the high volume of applications we have extended our turnaround times.
Thank you for your patience.
Please note that due to the legislative changes within England we have agreed that any request for registration or re-registration submitted and received on or before 05 April 2011, will be charged at the 2010-11 rates. All registrations submitted and received after 06 April 2011 will be charged at the new rates.

Due to the migration of our database in February we are currently processing a large backlog of applications. We are also experiencing an increased volume of applications, therefore our processing times are longer than usual. We appreciate your patience at this time.
The Street Works Register will be migrating to a new database from the 26 January until 12 February. Unfortunately during this period we will not be processing any registrations. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Following changes to the English Statutory Instrument 2257, from 06 April 2011 any request for re-registration, for an individual working within the English legislative area, must be accompanied by the relevant re-assessed qualification certificate issued by an approved awarding body. Please see the ‘Training Courses’ section of our website for contact details of the awarding bodies.
An application to register re-assessed qualifications must be received by SWQR no earlier than six months prior to and no later than six months after the expiry of the previous registration, this is the date displayed on the front of your Street Works card. Each supervisor/operative must complete a ‘Candidate Re-assessment Form (SWQR5)’ and return it to the Street Works Qualifications Register along with their awarding body certificates, current ID card, one passport size photograph and the appropriate fee.
A new ID card issued will be issued and the expiry date of the card will be five years from the previous expiry date.
Note: If an individual fails to register their re-assessed qualifications in the six months after their current expiry date, their registration will expire and they will be required to retake the full units.
As from 6 May 2010 all candidates who have previously achieved the individual units of 002 (Signing, Lighting and Guarding) and unit 010 (Monitor Signing, Lighting Guarding) are now eligible to gain an ID card.
Candidates with those single units only should contact the Street Works Qualifications register on the number below for more information.
All historic qualifications (i.e. certificates awarded in the past) will no longer be accepted after 6 April 2011. Any candidate holding these units as part of their employment may then be required to sit the course again to gain a recent certificate and ID card.
